The latest Arsenal injury news as Mikel Arteta’s side prepare to face Liverpool in what promises to be a consequential match in the Premier League title race.

The Gunners have several key players on the treatment table, while William Saliba is suspended for Sunday’s game at the Emirates Stadium after he was sent off during last weekend’s defeat to Bournemouth.

Arsenal injury latest ahead of Liverpool:

Bukayo Saka

The England winger is a doubt after missing the last two games against the Cherries and Shakhtar Donetsk. Arteta revealed on Friday that Saka has returned to training and faces a late fitness test ahead of kickoff.

“He has done a bit of training on the grass. How far we can get him to Sunday, that’s a different question. We have another day, which is a good thing.”

Riccardo Calafiori

The Italian defender seems unlikely to feature against the Reds after twisting his knee in the Champions League in midweek.

“He needs some more tests,” said Arteta. “He had some yesterday, today he’s going to have some more and from there we will know.

“Last time, we thought it was really bad and he ended up playing two or three days after, so let’s see.

“We are going to do our very best to somehow have them available, but it’s very, very uncertain.”

Jurrien Timber

The Dutch international has been out of action for almost a month after sustaining a muscular injury during the 2-0 win over PSG.

Timber has returned to training but his recovery has taken longer than expected. “He has had the first session he could have some involvement with,” Arteta said.

“He has been out for a while. We expected him to be further ahead than where he is at the moment, but again we have to wait and see.”

Other injuries

Arsenal are also missing captain Martin Odegaard, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kieran Tierney through injury. Oleksandr Zinchenko is yet to feature since recovering from a calf problem.
