San Lorenzo have confirmed that Gastón Hernández and Ezequiel Cerutti suffered cruciate ligament tears after the draw with Boca in the Torneo Clausura. Both will be sidelined for the rest of the season, with recovery to take 8 months. The pair are key figures in Damián Ayude’s side.

Both were substituted during the match, Cerutti withdrawn after 23 minutes of the first half, Hernández departing in the second half after a twisting movement.

Hernández, the team captain, has sustained the third cruciate ligament rupture of his career, repeating an injury to the same knee he damaged in 2021 with San Martín de San Juan and again in 2023.

For Cerutti, tests showed the same type of injury as two years ago, although that earlier setback was to his left knee.

With FIFA’s Transfer Matching System closed, San Lorenzo are limited in replacing the pair. The club have 10 days and can only sign from the domestic market or players who are free agents.
