Santiago Bueno named Wolves player of the season as end-of-season awards announced | OneFootball

Santiago Bueno has been voted Wolves’ player of the season, topping the supporters’ poll as the club confirmed their end-of-season awards.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, the honours were presented after Friday’s training session at Compton Park, ahead of the final match of the season at Burnley.

The Uruguayan received 34 per cent, finishing ahead of Joao Gomes and Hugo Bueno. The 27-year-old made 33 appearances in defence, scoring four times, including his first for the club at Spurs and an FA Cup winner at Grimsby Town.

Gomes, last year’s player of the season, was named players’ player. He also received the men’s community player award and the club’s PFA community champion for his work with the Wolves Foundation over the last 12 months.

Hugo Bueno won goal of the season for a stunning strike against newly crowned Premier League champions Arsenal, a top-corner finish from the edge of the box that sparked a comeback.

Wolves Women were recognised after sealing promotion to WSL 2. Supporters chose Georgia Marshall as player of the season and Amber Hughes as players’ player.

Abbi Jenner took goal of the season for her strike against Sporting Khalsa. Hughes finished top scorer with 21 goals and collected the league’s Golden Boot, while Louanne Worsey was named the club’s PFA women’s community champion.
