Santos are close to sending right-back JP Chermont on loan to Coritiba until the end of the season with no purchase option. According to Diario Do Peixe, the player's camp want a clause obliging Santos to sell if a mid-year bid arrives.
København and Ajax had proposed a loan with an option to buy for three million euros, which Santos rejected. Ajax also tabled the same amount for a permanent transfer. Club president Marcelo Teixeira is said to have told representatives only a higher offer would be accepted.
Last year, Chelsea bid six million euros, but Santos sought 10 million and talks did not advance.
With minutes scarce, the board moved to find a solution and lined up the move to the Paraná side. Chermont featured in the Copinha at the start of the year and has been named in only three senior matchday squads, against Bragantino and Noroeste in the Paulistão, and Chapecoense in the Brasileiro.
Head coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda told the 2005-born full-back he is behind Igor Vinicius and Mayke and would have to wait for his chance. Santos signed midfielder Gabriel Menino a month ago, and he can also cover at right-back. Chermont is under contract until the end of 2027.
