Santos’ deliberative council approved the Fiscal Council’s opinion on Marcelo Teixeira’s 2025 accounts during a heated meeting on Monday night.
According to Diario Do Peixe, the nominal ballot returned 109 votes for approval, 37 against and one abstention, with tensions sharpened by the outlet’s disclosure of an agreement with NR Sports regarding the R$ 90 million debt owed to Neymar.
The report recorded a deficit of R$ 79.3 million, better than the budgeted shortfall of R$ 89.5 million. Club revenues hit a record R$ 678.5 million, including R$ 188 million from player trading, while total debt climbed to R$ 998 million.
Since Teixeira took office, Santos’ debt has risen by about 66 per cent. It stood at R$ 603 million at the end of 2023 and had already reached R$ 758 million by last year.
Councillors pressed the Fiscal Council with multiple questions. During the vote, one councillor complained that his name had been signed in person even though he was attending the session online.
