Santos have kept head coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda in post, with the board set to review progress after the next home fixtures. According to Globo.com, the focus is on matches at Vila Belmiro against Corinthians and Internacional in the Campeonato Brasileiro.
The hierarchy were unimpressed with the 2-2 draw at Mirassol on Tuesday, yet believe it is best to give Vojvoda more time with an almost complete squad, barring centre-back Lucas Veríssimo.
The home games are seen as key for Vojvoda to show greater consistency after 10 days of work before Mirassol. The board want a clearer tactical identity and improved performances, not just results.
Against Corinthians on Sunday, Neymar is set to start, giving Vojvoda a significant boost. The forward needs to prove his physical level to return to the Brazil squad, which could in turn buy the Argentine more time.
Behind the scenes, the club acknowledge heavy pressure for Vojvoda to go. In recent years at Santos, he is the coach who has had the most time to work during a top-flight return, while Fábio Carille spent all of 2024 at the club in Série B.
There is also concern about the market, with no appetite to spend weeks without a coach and limited finances complicating alternatives. For now, the view is that course correction alongside Vojvoda is preferable.
