Santos president Marcelo Teixeira says he is unaware of FC Cincinnati interest in Neymar and wants the forward to see out a deal running to 31 December 2026.
According to Globo.com, speaking at the club’s anniversary event at Monte Serrat on Tuesday, Teixeira said he had not seen proposals yet, though they could appear, and that any decision rests with Neymar, his staff and his father.
He added the club are working on and off the pitch, alongside NR-linked projects, to help prepare Neymar to represent Brazil at the World Cup.
Teixeira’s stance followed the leak of a renegotiated image-rights debt. An addendum signed in December last year recognised a R$ 90.5 million liability to the number 10, to be paid in 48 instalments and tying Santos to payments until 2030.
To guard against delays, NR Sports, the family company, inserted guarantees in the agreement, including the CT Meninos da Vila or even Teixeira’s re-election. He played this down, describing a relationship of trust, not politics, and saying the contract stands regardless of any election outcome if the agreement is followed.
He said that if a future president honours the deal nothing will change and all terms will be observed. He noted neither Santos nor NR intend legal action, citing Neymar’s history of gratitude and partnership.
