Santos to send complaint to CBF over offside goal in goalless draw at Cruzeiro

Santos will send a formal complaint to the CBF after a goalless draw at Cruzeiro in Brasileirão round eight at the Mineirão on Sunday.

The club said in a post that it will file the representation tomorrow regarding the offside that cancelled Álvaro Barreal’s stoppage-time goal from Rony’s pass. The assistant flagged and VAR confirmed.

Assistant Gizeli Casaril made the call and Diego Pombo Lopez led VAR. Coach Cuca, Neymar Jr and Gabriel Barbosa criticised the incident publicly.

The draw moved Peixe out of the relegation zone, leaving them 15th on seven points.

Had the goal stood, the win could have lifted Santos four or five places higher, offering breathing space before the near two-week FIFA window. They are next due to host Remo on Thursday (02) at 19:00 at Vila Belmiro.
