Samuel Gigot could be back in Maurizio Sarri’s plans, with the Lazio defender nearing his first call-up of the 2025/26 campaign after nine months out with an ankle injury.
Il Corriere dello Sport reports that the 32-year-old is close to full recovery and could make himself available, though it remains unclear if he will be ready for the next match against Parma.
Gigot arrived from Marseille in summer 2024 as Nicolo Casale’s replacement. Lazio paid €500,000 for an initial loan, then were obliged to buy him last summer for a similar fee plus €3.5 million in bonuses, taking the total to €4.5 million.
He was not a regular starter under Marco Baroni, but featured in rotation, often in the Europa League.
A return would hand Sarri another centre-back at a useful moment, with Mario Gila managing physical discomfort and Patric operating as a deep-lying playmaker while Nicolo Rovella and Danilo Cataldi are injured.
A run-out could also help Lazio attract buyers, with interest persisting in France. Gigot’s contract runs until June 2026.
