When the Hoops confirmed the 33-year-old’s exit, there was interest from several Scottish Premiership sides but it is John McGlynn’s side where Bain will ply his trade next season.

Now, Bain has since spoken about his departure, explaining what led him to terminate his contract a year early at the Scottish champions.

In an interview with STV News, he shed light on his decision to leave the club he had joined from Dundee back in 2018. “I think I was getting to the age now, where if I stayed on at Celtic for another year, as much as I loved being there and loved the club, I would have been another year older, and it would have been harder to get back to playing regular football,” he said.

“A big thing for me was for my fiancé and little boy potentially getting the chance to come and watch me play, which will be a different experience for them than it’s been for the last couple of years,” Scott Bain explained.

“So that was a big factor, as was getting the chance to come to Falkirk and work under the manager and the staff here. Seeing how well the club is run was another big factor in me coming here.”

Bain was a Celtic player for seven full seasons, joining permanently after impressing on loan during the 2017/18 season under Brendan Rodgers. Over that time, the ex-Scotland international featured in 78 matches across all competitions and contributed to a trophy-laden spell that saw the club secure 14 domestic trophies, including seven league championships, four League Cups, and three Scottish Cups.

With his contract at Aberdeen having expired at the end of last season, Scotland goalkeeper Ross Doohan is expected to fill the gap as third-choice goalkeeper, with that deal set to be announced any day now.
