Sean Dyche says Douglas Luiz’s time at Nottingham Forest is “more or less” at an end.
The Reds boss spoke before Thursday’s Europa League tie with Ferencváros, with a switch to Aston Villa looming. Nottingham Post reports that the Juventus loanee is close to leaving the City Ground.
Dyche praised the 27-year-old for playing through injury to help over Christmas.
“I don’t think it is quite done, it is more or less there,” Dyche said. “It was a difficult one for me. When we came here he got injured, he recovered from that and agreed to be rushed back a little bit.”
“I think he was a bit frustrated with his true fitness and his form. But we know what a good player he is, there is no two ways about that.”
“But he has an opportunity and we felt it was right, he felt it was right and, if it gets finalised, it is a win-win in that respect.”
Luiz made more than 200 appearances for Villa before being sold to Juventus in summer 2024. He struggled to make an impact during a single season in Turin.
