The Ghanian conjured up a moment of brilliance by despatching a stunning backheel flick to seal a 1-0 win over Chelsea in what was a hard-fought contest at Wembley.

For Semenyo and City it was a second trophy in three months following hard on the heels of our Carabao Cup win in March.

And reflecting on a day he will never forget, the winger said: “It’s a good finish I can’t lie!

“It feels surreal to be honest. I don’t even have words to describe it.

“[In terms of the goal] It’s happened a couple of times in training! It happened perfectly today.

“It was behind me, as long as I got contact on it and it was towards goal, I was hoping it would go in.

“Everything happened so fast. I wanted to get into the box and make sure I’m a presence. It came straight to me and I just had to improvise as quickly as I can.

“I’m happy with the finish and grateful. It was good enough contact, timed perfectly and Sanchez couldn’t get there.

“As a kid I always wanted to play for the top teams, competing for trophies and shining. I’m grateful. I just had to keep working hard and you get your chance.

“I’ve never competed for trophies like this before. Everything is new to me.”

There could still be another silver lining to the season with City still in contention for the Premier League title with two league games to go.

And with a tough trip to Bournemouth next up on Tuesday, Semenyo said it would leave little time for Cup celebrations.

“I don’t think there will be much celebrations tonight, it’s about getting ready for Tuesday,” Antoine added.

“Just train the same way and hopefully results fall in our hands. So we just have to pray it happens.

“I’m enjoying every day and enjoying all these trophies. Hopefully we can finish off the job by the end of the season.”
