Benin 0-3 Senegal

Senegal eased past Benin in Tangier to ensure that they finished top of Group D in their campaign to lift the AFCON trophy.

Abdoulaye Seck put Senegal ahead after 38 minutes before Habib Diallo doubled their lead after he latched onto a Sadio Mane pass to slot home.

Kalidou Koulibaly was shown a red card with his side 2-0 up, but the three points and top spot in the group were wrapped up when Cherif Ndiaye converted his spot kick in the 97th minute.

Senegal will face either Burkina Faso or Sudan on Saturday, depending on how Group E concludes, while Benin, who finished third in the group, will face seven-time champions Egypt, who won Group B.

Uganda 1-3 Nigeria

Nigeria finish the group stage with nine points from nine as they beat Uganda to win Group C.

Despite Nigeria making eight changes going into this one, it did not take them long to take the lead.

Former Southampton striker Paul Onuachu’s effort put Nigeria ahead before Uganda goalkeeper Denis Onyango was forced off with injury. His replacement, Salim Magoola, was shown a straight red card after only being on the pitch for 11 minutes for handling outside his area.

And six minutes later, with Uganda’s third-choice goalkeeper now in net, Raphael Onyedika made it two. The same man then put the game out of sight as he grabbed a third.

Despite Rogers Mato’s strike giving Uganda hope with 15 minutes to go, they extended their winless run at the tournament to six games in a row as they crashed out once again.

Nigeria will face the third-placed team from Group F – Mozambique, Cameroon or Ivory Coast – on Monday.

Botswana 0-3 Congo DR

Despite storming past Botswana in their final game of the group stage, they will have to settle for a second-placed finish in Group D.

Goals from Nathanael Mukau and two from former Chelsea man Gael Kakuta ensured an easy victory for the central African side.

DR Congo remain in Morocco, but will face a tough last-16 match against fellow two-time champions Algeria on Tuesday. Botswana finished fourth and are now out of the tournament.

Tanzania 1-1 Tunisia

Both Tanzania and Tunisia are through to the last 16 at AFCON after they played out a tight one-all draw in Morocc.

Ismael Gharbi opened the scoring from the spot two minutes before half-time to give Tunisia the lead, a lead that would not last long however.

Just three minutes after the break Feisal Salum’s strike from the edge of the box made sure Tanzania were through as one of the four best third placed teams in the competition.

Tunisia will take on Group A runners-up Mali in Casablanca on Saturday, while Tanzania, who have reached the knockout stage for the first time, face host nation Morocco the following day.
