Serie A Not a Viable Destination for Disgruntled Salah

Serie A has welcomed a few champions late in their careers in recent years, most recently Kevin De Bruyne and Luka Modric, but Mohamed Salah is unlikely to be next, even though he’s already familiar with the league.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the attacker could leave Liverpool in January amid his rift with coach Arne Slot. He lashed out against the manager for his reduced role in recent remarks, and he was left out of the squad for the Inter clash.

The main issue for Serie A teams that could potentially pursue Salah is his salary. He makes €10M net annually. Only Dusan Vlahovic, but primarily because of some hefty bonuses he accumulated along the way, has higher wages. Lautaro Martinez pockets €9M per year, while Paulo Dybala €8M, but he got there in the same way as his former Serbian teammate. Instead, Saudi sides wouldn’t have problems matching his current numbers, and some, if he were open to such destinations.

The 33-year-old spent three campaigns in the Peninsula in his formative years, one at Fiorentina, on loan from Chelsea, and two at Roma, where he blossomed, leading to a €42M transfer to Liverpool.

The uncertain future of the Egyptian international could affect Federico Chiesa, Tuttomercatoweb relays. The Reds would be unlikely to let the Italian winger depart if his teammate exited.

Our Take on Salah and Serie A

A few sides would have all over him in the past, but those figures are a non-starter for basically any outfit. If he were willing to take a steep pay cut to return to his old stomping grounds, Juventus and Napoli should think about it.
