Midfielder Sydie Peck continues to see his reputation grow after being named in Lee Carsley’s England U21 squad. The 20-year-old was included in the Young Lions’ travelling party for their European qualifier against Kazakhstan, with the match scheduled for Monday evening at the Aktobe Ortalyk Stadion.
Experienced goalkeeper Adam Davies returned to the Wales squad under new manager Craig Bellamy. He was an unused substitute in the World Cup qualifying win away in Kazakhstan, which was settled by former Blade Kieffer Moore’s strike.
On-loan centre-back Tyler Bindon played the full 90 minutes for New Zealand as they fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat against Australia in Auckland.
Recent arrival Tahith Chong enjoyed a landmark moment in his career by making his debut for Curaçao. Having switched allegiance from the Netherlands, Chong was introduced on the hour mark in a tense goalless World Cup qualifier against Trinidad & Tobago. He will be hoping to earn more minutes when Curaçao face Bermuda.
Versatile winger Chiedozie Ogbene also enjoyed a productive international window with the Republic of Ireland. The pacey forward was introduced after the hour mark during their lively 2-2 draw with Hungary, adding energy from the bench. He is now preparing for Ireland’s next qualifier against Armenia.
The club’s promising young talents also gained valuable experience at under-21 level. Nils Zatterstrom impressed as he played a full match in Sweden U21’s emphatic 3-0 win over Armenia. Ryan Oné featured for 30 minutes in Scotland U21’s defeat to Czech Republic, continuing his steady step up into the international setup.
Elsewhere, Mihail Polendakov was a standout performer for Bulgaria U21, playing the full 90 minutes in their commanding 3-0 win against Gibraltar. Meanwhile, Dovydas Sasnauskas also gained valuable minutes, playing on the right of a back three during Lithuania U21’s 4-0 loss to Ukraine.
