The SFA’s KMI Panel has unanimously dismissed the desperate claims from Barry Ferguson that Rangers should have had a penalty in the game against Celtic. The Scottish Champions were the better team in the 1-1 draw at Ibrox last weekend but were hit by a first half sucker punch from Cyriel Dessers before Adam Idah equalised in the second half.
Shortly after being substituted onto the pitch, Rangers midfielder Hagi went down in the box after kicking Callum McGregor, an action which Nick Walsh waved play on towards before VAR cleared that the experienced referee had made the right call. After the game, interim Rangers boss Ferguson bemoaned the decision, which extended his winless run at Ibrox, stating that he believed a spot kick should have been awarded.
The KMI Panel unanimously ruled with five notes to nil that the on-field decision from Walsh was the correct one.
The KMI Panel also agreed that Raskin’s goal was correctly ruled out while unanimously acquiescing that Adam Idah’s equaliser was an example of the VAR working properly, allowing review and the goal to stand.
