FLW's Sheffield United fan pundit shares their thoughts on Harrison Burrows links to West Ham United

Sheffield United are preparing for their third consecutive season in the Championship, with the Blades in for a huge summer transfer window after a disappointing campaign by all accounts.

Things at Bramall Lane this season, whilst they could've gone a lot worse, could've also gone a lot better.

Ruben Selles oversaw a messy transfer window in the summer following his appointment in place of Chris Wilder, though the Spaniard was dismissed after just six games, all ending in defeat, as Wilder returned to the helm.

By that point, the 56-year-old had to contend with a squad that had been dismantled and put back together poorly, with each of Anel Ahmedhodzic, Rhian Brewster, Kieffer Moore, and Vinicius Souza all leaving the club, all of whom were imperative previously under Wilder.

As the Blades prepare to adjust to life without parachute payments, sales may need to be made to fund any arrivals, as one exit has been touted that has divided the club's fanbase.

Sheffield United left-back Harrison Burrows is on West Ham's transfer radar

As exclusively revealed by Football League World, Sheffield United left-back Harrison Burrows is of interest to newly relegated West Ham United ahead of a potential summer move.

Burrows, 24, made the move to South Yorkshire from Peterborough United in the summer of 2024 for around £3 million, and instantly became the first-choice option on the left side of Wilder's back four as Sheffield United amassed 90 points and just missed out on a place in the Premier League when they were defeated by Sunderland at Wembley.

This season, whilst the Englishman has still made 44 league appearances, he has had to balance his game time out a bit more with Sam McCallum, as Football League World's Sheffield United fan pundit, Jimmy, shares their thoughts on Burrows' links to the Hammers.

Jimmy said: "We actually did a video on this following your exclusive story on it, and Blades fans are split, I think it's fair to say.

"He signed from Peterborough and had a really good first season with us, not just his goal contributions, which have been consistent over both years that he's played with us, but his performances in the first year were really strong, and that was it then, really. We felt like we had a left back for the next, certainly for the foreseeable future, and that's a position we were really comfortable with.

"He didn't really reach those levels in the second season, and Sam McCallum actually came into the team in front of him. And then when Sam McCallum got injured towards the back end, Harrison Burrows regained his starting place and saw the season out because Sam McCallum was injured.

"But I think the general feeling from, certainly, the Blades fans I speak to, is that there's a real player in there. It's just can we get him back to similar levels that we saw in the first season? I think if an offer was to come in of around £5 million, then that's when we'd be interested in talking, I think.

"So we'll wait and see what happens with this one because there are other options available at left back on a free transfer. So, if it's something that we feel we can replace, and it makes good business sense, then I think we'd entertain it."

Chris Wilder must make a big decision on the future of Harrison Burrows at Sheffield United as West Ham United lurk

With the summer window slowly getting into gear, sales will almost certainly need to be at Bramall Lane this summer, something which Wilder will be aware of.

The lack of parachute payments will limit their spending power unless sales are made, as Burrows is the latest player to be linked with a move away.

Each of Sydie Peck, Femi Seriki, Andre Brooks, and Tyrese Campbell have all been linked with moves away, each of whom could raise funds instead of Burrows.

There is no doubting, on his day, Burrows is among the best left-backs in the Championship, certainly going forward, and Sheffield United are a much better side with him in it.

However, an offer from West Ham may prove too tempting to turn down, as this is a saga to keep one eye on over the coming weeks and months.
