Max Lowe is reportedly keen on remaining at Hillsborough ahead of next season
Sheffield Wednesday are in an intriguing predicament at present, with David Storch still very much hoping he can complete his long-awaited takeover of the club ahead of the current Championship season's final game next Saturday.
Storch's consortium, Arise Capital Partners LLC, have been putting in plenty of groundwork in a bid to ensure the Owls' latest rebuilding job in League One runs as smoothly as possible after a dramatic period which saw the club almost hit the brink in 2025.
Indeed, Dejphon Chansiri's mismanagement of the club in the final weeks and months of his tenure as owner led to a mass exodus of senior players and management last summer, with several sanctions later imposed by the EFL leaving Henrik Pedersen and his threadbare squad with the impossible task of survival in the Championship.
What already seemed like 'mission impossible' was eventually rubber-stamped by the deduction of 18 points, and as a result, Wednesday have mathematically known their fate for the past two months.
As such, whilst it still remains to be seen if Storch's takeover does go through before the desired date of May 1st, amid a fresh twist involving Chansiri, we are starting to see further clarification as to which current players are likely to stay at Hillsborough for next term.
As well as the club having a luckless season on the pitch, the same can largely be said for Max Lowe on an individual level, with the full-back missing a fair portion of the campaign through injury.
However, it has been reported by Owls journalist, Joe Crann - via The Wednesday Word - that, despite growing interest in the 28-year-old, he is open to staying in the Steel City, developments which Football League World's Sheffield Wednesday fan pundit, Patrick McKenna is rather pleased with.

Since returning from injury, Lowe has been one of Wednesday's standout performers in a run of games which even saw them hold runaway Championship leaders, Coventry City, to a goalless draw at the CBS Arena.
Even with his prior links to Steel City rivals, Sheffield United, well-documented, the full-back has been a popular figure at Hillsborough, and the fact he is open to staying at the club beyond the expiration of his current deal on June 30th, despite the unknowns they still face heading into 2026/27 will no doubt please supporters again.
"If Max Lowe wants to stay at Sheffield Wednesday next season, then that is a massive boost," he told FLW. "He is a Championship-quality player, and in League One, would absolutely stand out.
"There's going to be a massive rebuild in the summer, and I anticipated as part of this (that) Max Lowe would move on.
"But, if he wants to stay a part of it then it's just a real, real bonus," McKenna added.
"His quality and experience in League One would really help, especially if we are to get some younger defenders in or bring some through. He'd be there to offer experience.
"It's just positive, but tempered by the fact there will be Championship interest in Max Lowe, which may tempt him away," he continued.
"But, if he was to stay, it would be a fantastic addition for any League One team."

As well as being tracked by Championship clubs at present, the defender was also reportedly of interest to Rangers in January, with the Light Blues now managed by ex-Wednesday boss, Danny Rohl, further highlighting his ability.
Having featured in the second tier and beyond for so many years, Lowe's retention would give the Owls strong quality from both a defensive and creative standpoint due to his athleticism, as well as further experience, with it also being claimed that Liam Cooper is also a player the club would like to tie down to a new contract.
However, it does also remain to be seen which Championship sides do hold an interest in his services, and what their own long-term aspirations are, as they will, regardless of Storch's own plan at Hillsborough, have a head start in the here and now.
