Shelbourne FC is delighted to announce that Daniel Kelly has signed a new contract with the Reds.
Kelly joined the club in December 2024 from Derry City and has since become a pivotal part of the squad, bouncing back from injury earlier this year. Since becoming a Red, the Ringsend native has made 19 League of Ireland appearances, scoring 3 goals, while also featuring in 9 European fixtures. A versatile and highly technical attacker, Kelly has been a major asset to the team and has played a key role in several vital moments throughout the League of Ireland season including crucial goals against Bohemian FC, Cork City and Sligo Rovers and a massive assist in the 3-2 thriller against Bohemian FC where the Reds guaranteed European football for the 2026 season.
Daniel Kelly said:
“I’m delighted to be signing back for Shelbourne Football Club. It has been a pleasure working under the staff and alongside my teammates over the past year and I’m really looking forward to continuing that work. I have a real hunger to bring silverware back to Tolka Park next year.”
Shelbourne FC Head Coach Joey O’Brien said:
“We are delighted to get Dan signed for the coming season. After coming back from injury, he has made a great impact on the squad. He has contributed vital goals and assists this year, and we believe there is more of that to come. Dan is a player who knows this league and has operated at the top end of the table. He knows what it takes to win, and we’re delighted he’s with us for next season.”
Shelbourne FC Technical Director Luke Byrne said:
“Dano came to us with an injury and had to show real patience and character to work his way back to fitness and onto the pitch. Since then, his influence on the team and on our season has grown. He’s versatile, and he plays with real directness and energy. Dano is a popular member of the squad and a positive presence around the club, so it’s great to have him extend his contract with us.”
