Arsenal are open to listening to offers for summer signing Viktor Gyokeres this summer, according to a prominent insider on social media.
Despite arriving with heavy expectations as the solution to Mikel Arteta’s long-standing search for a clinical number nine, the Swedish international could find his stay in North London cut unexpectedly short.
The report, initially broken by the ITK on X, suggests that the Gunners are prepared to entertain bids for the 27-year-old forward just twelve months after his arrival.
He posted on X: “Arsenal are open to listening to any offers for Viktor Gyökeres this summer.”
While Arsenal have enjoyed an impressive campaign, the club’s hierarchy is reportedly weighing up whether Gyokeres is the long-term fit for Arteta’s tactical evolution.
The decision comes at a time when Arsenal are already being linked with potential replacements.
Gyökeres signed only last summer after a long transfer saga involving Arsenal’s hunt for a new striker, eventually joining from Sporting CP for a significant fee.
While he has not produced the same astronomical output as he did in the Primeira Liga, his debut season has still been decent as far as numbers are concerned.
Across all competitions, Gyökeres has netted 18 goals in 48 games.
Though these statistics represent a solid return for a debutant in the world’s most competitive league, they fall short of the elite standard many expected. That said, a lot of it could also have to do with Arteta’s passive style of play.
For now, the Swedish powerhouse remains a key part of the squad and the report appears to be a bit far fetched at this stage.
