Sidny Cabral is enduring a difficult spell at Benfica, with José Mourinho said to have removed the winter signing from his first-choice plans. According to Record, the left-back has had few opportunities during a turbulent run-in.

The situation drew renewed attention after the Clássico with Porto, which he did not make the squad for. He has not played since the meeting with Real Madrid, when he was involved in a moment with Vinicius Jr.

Since then, the number 15 was on the bench against Gil Vicente. The 23-year-old, a roughly 6 million euros signing, is no longer in the coaching staff’s plans, the report says, with minutes shrinking in recent weeks.

Even so, the report notes he has started four matches since arriving and is working in training to change the picture.

His immediate aim is to be among the options for Arouca in the 26th round of Liga Portugal Betclic. In the meantime, Mourinho has reinforced to the squad that throwing in the towel is off limits while it remains mathematically possible.
