Queens Park Rangers have been backed to sign Dinamo Zagreb goalkeeper Ivan Nevistic

Queens Park Rangers are plotting to sign a new goalkeeper following the news that Ben Hamer and Paul Nardi are set to leave when their contracts expire this month.

Julien Stephan struggled to settle on one goalkeeper during his first season in charge of the West Londoners, rotating between Hamer, Nardi, and Joe Walsh.

All three of Stephan's choices between the sticks struggled for consistency in the Championship, while the R's conceded a whopping 73 goals.

Only rock-bottom Sheffield Wednesday conceded more goals in the second tier than QPR in 2025/26, epitomising how important it is that the West London club sign a new keeper.

The fact that the Championship play-offs have been expanded, including seventh and eighth place, gives the R's a greater chance of winning promotion next term.

However, Stephan's men finished their recent season in just 15th, showing how much work they have to do in the summer transfer market to make themselves more competitive.

As reported by Croatian outlet Sata, QPR are interested in Dinamo Zagreb goalkeeper Ivan Nevistic, who made 18 appearances in 2025/26, helping his side win the top-flight title.

Football League World asked our R's fan pundit, Louis Moir, what his thoughts were on the potential transfer.

Moir told FLW: "I think it seems that we're wanting to maybe get the goalkeeper position sorted as soon as possible, as early on into this window as we can, because obviously it's such an important role that we need to fulfill.

"We need to sign a keeper who's going to be a massive upgrade on what we've had to deal with over the last season. Ivan Nevistic looks to be a very, very capable keeper.

"What excites me is that he's a good age. He's relatively young for a goalkeeper. Having looked at clips of him, obviously a lot of keepers probably look good on videos, but he seems really quite decent.

"He's obviously had that experience of playing in Europe as well, the Europa League, even the Champions League. Albeit a few games, that's big experience.

"Playing for Dinamo Zagreb as well, big club out there. He's won the league there with them a few times. You could argue (about) the quality of the football in Croatia.

"At the end of the day, it's a top-flight league, team playing in Europe and they've won titles. That's big experience. If you're to sign a player who's come from that, that's going to add quality.

"He does look really quite good. It's not going to be hard to replace Joe Walsh, I suppose, because he's just made way too many mistakes last season, and he's clearly not good enough in my opinion.

"This fella obviously looks really good. It seems that we're wanting to get things moving quickly. It might not be the only position we want to solidify early on into this window.

"I'd be all over this signing, I really would, and, hopefully, something gets done. It looks to be a massive upgrade on what we've got. Also, from having watched clips of Nevistic, he looks like he makes quite a lot of saves with his feet.

"Low down, low shots. I haven't really seen Joe Walsh, for example, do that a lot. That, again, is a massive plus. Sign him immediately!"

QPR must choose whether to prioritise Ivan Nevistic or Sam Tickle deal

QPR's interest in Nevistic, who has played in both the Europa League and the Champions League, shows how keen they are to solve their goalkeeping issues swiftly.

Nevistic has not played for Dinamo Zagreb since their clash with Danish side Midjtylland on 29 January, but his overall credentials suggest he would be a strong signing for the R's.

Meanwhile, QPR are also interested in Wigan Athletic's Sam Tickle, who could leave the Latics for a fee between £1.5million and £2m, as per Alan Nixon via Patreon.

Tickle has been ever-present between the sticks for the Greater Manchester outfit for each of the last three League One seasons, and will want first-team football once again next term.

Therefore, QPR must surely decide between signing the Wigan man and Nevistic, as neither goalkeeper will settle for a place on Stephan's bench.
