In a real silver lining to a dark cloud, Inter Milan broke the Coppa Italia gate receipt record in their semifinal second leg loss to AC Milan.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that the Nerazzurri cashed in to the tune of €5.8 million.
Inter Milan hosted AC Milan in the second leg of a Coppa Italia semifinal tie yesterday.
As always with the derby, both legs were played at the San Siro. However, it was the Nerazzurri who were nominally the home side.
Therefore, that meant that Inter were able to collect the gate receipts from the ticket sales.

On the pitch, it would be fair to say that things did not go well for Inter Milan yesterday.
The Nerazzurri bombed out of the Coppa Italia in a humiliating 3-0 defeat to their city rivals.
However, there is a major silver lining off the pitch. With the emphasis on silver.
The Nerazzurri brought in gate receipt earnings of €5.8 million from yesterday’s match.
In conclusion, the Gazzetta highlight, that is the most that a team has ever earned from a domestic cup match in Italy.
