The Sky Sports campaign to try and destabilise Alexander Isak and get him out of Newcastle United is relentless, with the likes of Paul Merson and others, always willing to play their part as well.
Only hours after Newcastle United completed a 4-0 aggregate crushing of Arsenal to reach Wembley.
Sky Sports are at it yet again, continuing their never ending quest/dream to see Isak move to another club.
Rather bizarrely, that club always appearing to be Arsenal in their twisted logic.
It was all aptly summed up when Alexander Isak scored two goals in quick succession during the 3-1 win at Southampton, after a brilliant finish for the second, the pathetic Sky Sports commentator NOT talking about it from a Newcastle perspective. Instead going on about this is why Arsenal fans want Isak and making comparisons to Thierry Henry etc etc.
If Newcastle United were struggling, it would at least make some sense questioning Isak’s future.
However, to do it when they have just smashed Arsenal 4-0 on aggregate to get to a cup final, having won 11 of their last 13 matches, only outside the top five (which will almost certainly equal Champions League qualification) on goals scored.
Why keep trying to make out that Alexander Isak will leave Newcastle United, especially to Arsenal!
Never mind the fact that Arsenal have never won a trophy during Isak’s time at Newcastle United and where would they get the £150m+ to buy Isak even if Newcastle were bizarrely willing sellers. You also have the fact that Alexander Isak comes across as a great character who loves living in the area and playing for this club, loves the fans, other players and Eddie Howe. I honestly don’t believe for one minute that he would consider moving to such a shameful club as Arsenal have become, Mikel Arteta and so many of their players personifying that, a club with zero class that shows no respect, with a fanbase that has a seriously large minority who are totally abhorrent, as shown by the death threats and abuse aimed at Michael Oliver and his family.
Sky Sports ask Paul Merson about what the future will hold for Alexander Isak – 6 February 2025:
“It will all come down to money.
“I don’t know the lad.
“But if that is what it more likely comes down to.
“If someone comes in and offers a lot of money, you know, it will be hard.
“So for me, I don’t know, at the moment they are in the final.
“If they play Tottenham, maybe.
“If they play Liverpool, it is going to be harder.
“But yeah, the lad is a special player.
“But on the way in, I was thinking.
“Where is he going to go?
“Where can he go?
“He’s not going to go Man City.
“He’s not going to go Man Utd. You know, I don’t know if Man Utd have any money to buy anybody anyway.
“He’s not going to go Tottenham, he’s not going to go Villa.
“I think he can only go to Arsenal in the whole world really, unless it is Real Madrid, and they have got Mbappe anyway.
“For me, it’s only an Arsenal where he can go.
“Then it will be up to him, does he want to go and play for Arsenal and might win something.
“Or stay at Newcastle and might win something.
“So it will be an interesting one but it will depend on the fair play rule as well.
“I don’t know what Newcastle have to do.”
The fact is as well, Newcastle United have gone through the toughest bit with PSR. These last three windows having brought in no first choice eleven contenders, plus having to sell Minteh and Anderson, two young promising squad players. That coming about because of having to buy the quality players needed to build a team, including/especially Isak, the club’s record signing. When it gets to July and the next financial year, Newcastle United will be in a position to buy again, they will sell some squad players to help allow that, as they have already done with Almiron and Kelly.
They DON’T have to sell their best players. If Newcastle United did choose to sell one or more of their better players, why on earth would it be Alexander Isak, arguably the best striker in the world. Plus, from a PSR perspective, he cost £63m only two and a half years ago, so it would be far from all pure profit, nor ideal from a PSR stance.
Newcastle United will look to extend Isak’s contract in the summer beyond the sizeable three years that will still be left on it anyway. If Newcastle have won their first trophy of ‘recent’ times and have qualified for the Champions League, why would he want to leave, especially to a club like Arsenal???
