The negotiations between Manchester United, Casemiro and Roma are reportedly progressing at a fast pace, with the player expressing his desire to join the Serie A giants.
The Brazil international has been a major disappointment since joining the Red Devils for a whopping €70 million from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022. The midfielder, who delighted the Santiago Bernabeu crowds while forming a legendary partnership with Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, failed to replicate the same dominant showings at Old Trafford.
Following the arrival of Ruben Amorim, the 32-year-old has found himself at the bottom of the pecking order, behind Manuel Ugarte, Kobbie Mainoo, Toby Collyer and Christian Eriksen. He hasn’t started a match since his poor showing against Newcastle United in the final fixture of 2024.
Therefore, the management has been keen to offload the club’s highest earner who has done little to justify his £350,000-per-week salary.

While Al-Nassr and Besiktas have been mentioned as potential suitors in the past few weeks, Roma has suddenly emerged as a potential destination in recent hours. The Italian capital could part ways with Boca Juniors-bound Leandro Parades, so they’re searching the market for a replacement, and it appears that this deal is progressing at a high pace.
According to Sky Sports correspondent Melissa Reddy, Casemiro is open to making the move to Roma in the coming days. The Giallorossi will be looking to sign the veteran on loan until the end of the season.
For their part, Man Utd would have preferred to sell the Brazilian on a permanent basis, but at this stage of the month, they don’t have many options. Hence, the Red Devils are willing to greenlight the operation.
Therefore, the next few hours could yield some interesting developments on this particular track.
