Having had a quiet January the Blues are once again expected to be busy this summer, with a the squad in serious need of reinforcements.

Chelsea are thought to be in the market for a centre back, whilst it’s believed they want to add another midfielder and attacker.

Newcastle want €90m for Anthony Gordon

The Blues have been heavily criticised for their youth focused recruitment policy, but reports have suggested they are prepared to sign players with proven Premier League experience.

Co-owner Behdad Eghbali has said the model will be tweaked, but until fans actually see action taken they won’t believe it.

The Blues are said to be looking for an attacker who can play both from the left and centrally, and have been linked with Gordon.

Gordon is also attracting interest from Bayern Munich, and Plettenberg has now provided an update on his future.

He took to X.com and said:

“There have already been club-to-club talks between FC Bayern and Newcastle regarding Anthony Gordon.

“Newcastle’s initial demands were up to €90m. Barcelona, Arsenal and Liverpool also informed.

“Realistically, the fee is expected to be around €75-85m including bonuses. Bayern will not pay that.

“That is why talks with other candidates are also ongoing. #NUFC”

Calum McFarlane confirmed Robert Sanchez would also miss the game, whilst it’s unlikely Pedro Neto and Alejandro Garnacho will feature.

That leaves Chelsea with no fit senior wingers and what could be a makeshift lineup for an important visit to Anfield.
