Union Saint-Gilloise said in a statement on Monday that they had mutually terminated Sofiane Boufal’s contract, leaving the Morocco international free to sign elsewhere.
The 32-year-old, an Angers academy graduate who later played for Lille, has been in Belgium since 2024. His deal was due to run until June 2026, but both parties agreed to split.
He had seen reduced minutes this season, featuring for only 301 minutes since the campaign began.
With the Brussels club he won the Belgian title, largely used as an impact substitute. He made 40 appearances for Union Saint-Gilloise, registering zero goals and six assists.
Boufal has 46 caps and eight goals for Morocco, and has not been called up since January 2024.
