Jason Cundy has praised Levi Colwill and believes the Chelsea centre back is the club’s “unusung hero” for this season.
Chelsea ultimately ended up having a successful campaign despite some bumps along the way as Enzo Maresca secured Champions League football and won the Conference League in his first season.
The Blues have already secured their first summer signing in Liam Delap and kick off their Club World Cup campaign in America on June 16th.
Chelsea had a number of standout performers with the likes of Moises Caicedo, Marc Cucurella and Enzo Fernandez rightly taking a lot of the plaudits.
The Blues finished the season with the third best defensive record in the league and Colwill played a big part in that.
Colwill scored the crucial goal to beat Nottingham Forest on the final day of the season and was a main stay in the Blues defence.

In total Colwill made 38 appearances in all competitions scoring twice, and Cundy believes he was Chelsea’s “unsung hero” of the season.
“I’m going Levi Colwill. He has developed this season,” he told talkSPORT when asked to pick an unsung hero.
“There is a leadership quality that I’m watching. He stepped up with a huge goal against Nottingham Forest. There is something about him now where he demands a first-team place.
“If Reece isn’t skipper, Enzo is; then Caicedo is the next one, and I think probably Levi is the one after that. He’s got that kind of quality about him.
“Developed as a young player, so much more to come. He hasn’t quite got the plaudits outside of Chelsea that I feel he deserves. He’s developed as a player, and he’s our unsung hero.”
The Blues are in the market for a centre back and are considering an approach for Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite, but David Moyes is said to be reluctant to sell.
