Son Heung-min's excellent start to life in the MLS continued with the South Korean bagging a hat-trick in Los Angeles FC's 4-1 victory away to Real Salt Lake last night.

The former Tottenham Hotspur captain opened the scoring with just over two minutes gone on the clock when he was played through before slotting the ball under ex-Reading goalkeeper Rafael Cabral.

It was 2-0 in the 16th minute with a superb strike as Son found himself in acres of space on the edge of the area allowing him to pick his spot perfectly.

Another former Spurs man, Hugo Lloris, got lucky in the 56th minute when Rwan Cruz saw his penalty bounce off the inside of the post and straight into the arms of the Frenchman.

The home side did pull one back in the 76th minute after a superb, acrobatic bicycle kick by Zavier Gozo but the away side eventually put the game to bed.

Son wrapped up his hat-trick six minutes later as LAFC took advantage of Real Salt Lake searching for an equaliser with Denis Bouanga leading the counter attack before squaring the ball for Son to make it 3-1. That's five goals in six MLS games for the 33-year-old now.

After an unselfish assist, Bouanga wrapped up the win late on, picking up the ball inside his own half and then the forward was away with only the goalkeeper to beat, which he did after keeping his cool.

That result means LAFC are currently fourth in the Western Conference with Real Salt Lake sitting in 10th.
