Southampton came from behind to defeat Derby County as Léo Scienza and Taylor Harwood-Bellis struck around the hour, extending their unbeaten run to 17 matches.
The hosts had the better first-half openings but, after Finn Azaz conceded an avoidable corner, Carlton Morris lashed in at the back post. According to Sainstmarching.com, Derby had been stubborn, on a good run, and still held an outside chance of the play-offs.
Southampton regrouped after the break and Scienza curled inside the far post beyond Richard O’Donnell to level.
After 64 minutes, Tonda Eckert sent on Kuryu Matsuki for Tom Fellows and Cyle Larin for Ross Stewart. Soon after, Harwood-Bellis headed in from Ryan Manning’s free-kick to put Southampton ahead.
Shea Charles and Samuel Edozie were introduced with a quarter of an hour remaining, and the home side saw the game out without adding to the lead.
Player ratings, formation four-two-three-one: Daniel Peretz six out of 10, James Bree seven, Taylor Harwood-Bellis eight, Jack Stephens seven, Ryan Manning eight.
