Spain reached the last 32 at the 2026 World Cup with victory over Uruguay, but the night came at a heavy cost. According to Superdeporte, Yeremy Pino y Nico Williams emerged with worrying fitness concerns.
The more serious case involves Yeremy. He fell awkwardly late on and finished with severe pain in his left shoulder. Early checks pointed to a possible broken collarbone, which could rule him out of the rest of the tournament, and he stayed on because Spain had used all their substitutions.
Luis de la Fuente did not hide his concern, admitting the injury could be significant. He praised the winger’s bravery for seeing the match out while clearly struggling. The final diagnosis will come after tests, though pessimism has taken hold inside the Spain camp.
Williams also ended with discomfort and left the pitch in clear pain. Initial assessments suggested a possible muscle overload, with medical staff waiting on tests to confirm the extent.
The double concern complicates Spain’s plans on the flanks. Yeremy had been viewed as a prime impact option, while Nico was growing into the tournament. Any absence would force a rethink, with Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres, Dani Olmo, Álex Baena or Gavi as alternatives.
A bruising contest featured several contentious challenges and a stoppage-time red card for Agustín Canobbio. Spain still topped Group H, but the physical toll now threatens to be their main concern as the decisive phase begins.
