Spain, the reigning European champions, will host Serbia in a friendly on Friday 27 March at 21:00, replacing the cancelled Finalissima with Argentina.
The match will be staged at Estadio de la Cerámica, home of Villarreal, during the international break from 23 to 31 March, the Spanish federation said in a statement on Monday.
UEFA cancelled the Finalissima, which would have pitted Euro 2024 winners Spain against Copa America champions Argentina, after failing to reach agreement with CONMEBOL and the AFA amid disruptions caused by the war in the Middle East. It had been scheduled for that date in Qatar.
A planned friendly in the region against Egypt had already been called off by the organisers, leaving La Roja short of an opponent for this final window before the 2026 World Cup.
Luis de la Fuente’s side begin their tournament against Cape Verde in Group H on 15 June. The World Cup runs from 11 June to 19 July in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
