Sporting and Benfica slip up, Porto lead Under-17 league comfortably

FC Porto remains in first place in the youth championship phase, extending their unbeaten run to seven games by winning 2-0 in Vila do Conde against Rio Ave. The Dragons dominated the first half, with Tcherno Jamanca scoring a lob in the 19th minute and Gonçalo Santos making it 2-0 at 45’+4, sealing the result before halftime.

Sporting, who needed a win to stay in the title race, were surprised in Famalicão by a goal from João Marta in the 66th minute, which gave the home team a 1-0 victory. Benfica also failed to win, drawing 1-1 in Alverca: Afonso Ferreirinha put the Eagles ahead with a penalty in the 83rd minute, but João Guerreiro equalized, also from the penalty spot, deep into stoppage time (90’+6).
