Sporting Lisbon have released a statement after Ruben Amorim was confirmed as the new Manchester United head coach.
The Portuguese coach will take over the first team on November 11 when the next international break begins. Amorim will continue to manage Sporting until then.
Amorim has signed a contract with United until June 2027, with the option of a further year.
In a statement released this afternoon, Sporting said (via Daily Mail): “Sporting SAD reached an agreement with Manchester United FC (hereinafter MUFC) regarding the terms and conditions of coach Rúben Amorim’s departure, in return for which MUFC will pay Sporting SAD Euro 11,000,000.
“Additionally, Sporting SAD will have a benefit of Euro 1,658,000, related to the extinction of credit rights, recorded as liabilities and contingent liabilities, as a result of the revocation and renegotiation of contracts relating to intermediation commissions.”

Ruud van Nistelrooy remains caretaker manager for the next three matches – against Chelsea, PAOK and Leicester City. His first game ended in a 5-2 win over Leicester as United progressed to the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.
The Dutchman has stressed that he wants to remain at United in his role as assistant manager when Amorim takes over at Old Trafford.
However, there has been no official confirmation over whether Van Nistelrooy will remain or leave United upon the end of his time as interim manager.
The decision will likely be a giant decision between INEOS and Amorim, but we already know he will be bringing some of his Sporting staff with him to Manchester.
Amorim’s first game is set to be against Ipswich Town away in the Premier League. His first game at Old Trafford will be against Bodo in the Europa League before another home clash against Everton in the league.
He will have just less than two weeks to prepare for his first game.
