Thomas Frank says he does not mind fans singing the names of former Spurs players and managers.

The Dane is under pressure at Tottenham having won just one of his last ten Premier League games and none of the last seven, with Spurs sitting 15th in the table.

But despite continued criticism from supporters and chants for managers and players of years gone by, Frank says he recognises the achievements of those who came before him.

“I met Mauricio (Pochettino) a few times, a great guy, a great coach,” he said when asked about the fans singing the former Spurs boss’ name at games.

“I think he’s a legend. I don’t think he won a trophy, but for me, he was part of transforming the club, where it was at that stage, to where it ended up being in terms of being close to winning the Premier League title, getting into the Champions League final.

“If you’re close, then you’re very close to winning. Sometimes, you know, that’s football, there’s margins. I think Mauricio has done a top job here and he’s a true legend. If the fans sing their names, it’s well deserved.”

Spurs take on Newcastle in their next Premier League clash as they look to improve their woeful run of form.

But Frank says he is confident his players are continuing to fight for him despite their results.

“I haven’t seen one Premier League game that the players don’t want to run and fight,” he said.

“So they need to continue it and keep doing what we believe is the right thing, and then it will turn. I’ve never experienced that it will not turn, so I experience it will turn again.

“We can talk about the bottom of the table, or the top of the table, but it’s about the next game.

“I’m fully, fully focused about that. Because there’s also one thing for sure, if you’re too afraid of achieving whatever you want to achieve, you can’t focus, so you just need to focus on your task and need to focus on the next game and do everything you can to win that.

“It’s probably the most competitive Premier League in the five years I’ve been there. So it just makes it very, very difficult every game.”
