The saga with LOSC Lille midfielder Angel Gomes is never ending. It feels like Tottenham Hotspur have been linked to him for forever and a day. Such is the reality of players with expiring contracts, whom are set to move elsewhere on a free, there is inevitable interest, and in turn in inevitable rumours to go along with it.

Due to the player's contract situation, he has been phased out of the Lille side, finding himself an unused substitute in seven of their last eight games, and playing just 45 minutes in the game that he did play. This pretty much confirms all of the talk that he is set to end his five year stay at the French side this summer.

This has come at a cost to the player, who was not included in Thomas Tuchel's first squad as England manager this month. With the World Cup next summer, he knows he will have to get his next move right - particularly in terms of being a regular. He showed what he can do in an England shirt last autumn, and will be hoping that he gets a chance to do the same under Tuchel sooner or later.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, there is a "strong likelihood" that the midfielder signs for either Spurs or Manchester United this summer. Gomes was born in North London, though moved to Manchester at an early age. As a result, he probably feels a connection to both Cities, though he was at United for 14 years, so perhaps naturally feels more swayed towards them.

As mentioned above, the player will surely be very conscious of game time when picking his next move. At United, you did feel like they would be investing into Kobbie Mainoo - an academy player in the same position and role as Gomes - though reports suggest he could be sold this summer, which could make way for Gomes.
