St. Mirren won their second Scottish League Cup after a fine performance against Celtic with Jonah Ayunga scoring twice.

New Celtic boss Wilfried Nancy had a difficult start to life after taking over from Martin O'Neill but had the opportunity to win a piece of silverware in his third game.

However, it was the Saints who took the lead inside the first two minutes. A corner from the right by Keanu Baccus was met by the head of Marcus Fraser into the corner of the net.

The Bhoys levelled the score in the 23rd minute when Kieran Tierney's cross from the left found the sliding Reo Hatate at the far post to make it 1-1.

Celtic weren't able to push on from there despite having the majority of the ball. Indeed, St. Mirren looked dangerous on the counter attack and Steve Robinson's team retook the lead with just over an hour gone.

A looping cross from Alex Gogic found Jonah Ayunga, played onside, to head in from close range past Kasper Schmeichel and make it 2-1 to the Buddies.

Ayunga then got his brace to put St. Mirren in a commanding position. Celtic looked like they were out of ideas with Shamal George not needing to make too many saves to keep the Glasgow side out.

This result will likely result in an inquest at Celtic Park while St. Mirren can enjoy an unforgettable evening after an excellent team peformance.
