Real Madrid significantly strengthened their attack in the last summer transfer window as they added one of the best forwards playing the beautiful game today, Kylian Mbappe. In addition to the French World Cup winner, Endrick was also incorporated into the Merengue squad to provide more depth to the striker position.

Other areas of the team were left without much strengthening, but it looks like Los Blancos have a clear idea of how to bring in another superstar for a defensive position.

The Bayern Munich fullback, Alphonso Davies, has been linked with Real Madrid for quite some time now. There was news linking him with the white club in the last summer transfer window, but this move did not materialise.

Now, the Canadian has his contract with the Bavarian club ending in the summer of 2025, and as Bayern Munich were not able to force a sale this summer, Diario AS notes that this is a win for the Merengue club.

Once it became clear that Bayern would not sell him for a modest amount in 2024, Real Madrid’s intention was to wait for him to become a free agent in 2025.

Thus, the Merengues will be able to get him for free, especially as the club and Ancelotti both believed they could go through the current season with Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia as the two options in the left-back position. Alaba and Camavinga can also play in this position once they recover from their injuries.

However, on January 1st, Davies will have only six months left on his contract, and thus Real Madrid will be free to sign a pre-contract with him.

This is a clear success of the Real Madrid sporting department, which comes at the cost of Bayern Munich. However, the Merengues will not publicise this matter much, as they have very good relations with the Bavarian club.
