Manchester City can confirm Katie Startup will leave the Club upon the expiry of her current contract this summer.
After initially joining on a six-week emergency loan from Brighton at the end of the 2023/24 season, she then joined the Blues permanently in the summer of 2024.
Since then, she acted as a valuable part of our goalkeeping unit – continually driving standards in training and on matchdays in our pursuit of major honours.
The English stopper was then a member of Andrée Jeglertz’s side who lifted the Barclays Women’s Super League title in 2025/26 and reached the FA Cup final against Brighton, which will be contested on Sunday 31 May at 15:00 (UK).
Throughout Startup’s time with City, she has often been praised by Head Coach Andrée Jeglertz and Goalkeeping Coach Diego Restrepo, as well as fellow team-mates for her infectious attitude and positive work ethic at the City Football Academy.
Katie paid a heartfelt tribute to the Club and the City fans ahead of her departure at the end of the season: “I entered City in the final stretches of a title chase, and it feels fitting that I leave now after finally finishing the job and seeing the WSL back at City.
“I want to extend a huge thank you to the fans for all your support, memes (yes, I see them), and for making me feel so welcome at this club from day one.
“To my team-mates and everyone at the Club, thank you for bringing light to my every day.
“I cherish you and the memories we’ve made more than any match result, medal or title. I am a better person, have a fuller and richer life, because of you.
“The last two years have been the best six-week loan of my life. Thanks for making me a Cityzen, now and forever.”
