Stick or twist? Leipzig reportedly revive Dibling interest as Germans seek Diomande replacement

Tyler Dibling has been named on a five-player shortlist to replace Yan Diomande at RB Leipzig.

The Bundesliga side are assessing their options as Diomande prepares to leave for Real Madrid, in a transfer worth more than €100M. Having plucked Diomande from relative obscurity at relegated Leganes last summer, before turning a five-time profit inside 12 months, Leipzig are now seeking their next Money Ball signing.

Dibling's stock has no doubt taken a dive since arriving at Everton from Southampton last year. The 20-year-old played only 343 minutes of Premier League football in 2025-26, and has shown little of the promise that had him billed as one of English football's brightest young talents. He has started twice for Everton during the pre-season campaign.

Leipzig have a long-standing interest in the winger and were keen on a deal prior to his switch to Everton. German outlet BILD are reporting that Dibling features on the club's right-winger shortlist once more, alongside Francisco Conceicao, Malick Fofana, Paul Nebel and Said El Mala.

There's no doubt that Dibling's move to Everton has not worked out as hoped, and while it's too soon to write off his talent at 20, another season stuck on the bench does neither club nor player any favours.

The second-most expensive signing in Everton's history will be a wasted asset if he cannot earn Moyes's trust. Could an offer from a cash-rich Leipzig side be enough to tempt the Toffees to cash in?

If he actually is "a supreme talent, as witnessd by millions" (quoting one TW bore) then I have still not seen any evidence of it.

He might eventually come good somewhere, I doubt very much it will be at Everton. Any offer for him should be considered.

Why do fans think Moyes will go next summer? Easy, he signed a 2.5 year contract and said he didn't want either an extension or an overhaul of the existing one. Originally he didn't even want 2.5 years, he wanted 18 months.

Moyes is now effectively the same as a 2nd term President with a year left, he knows he's going either way so in truth everything will stagnate.

Iain @ 13, spot on -- which is why I want him gone.

It's not in Moyes's interest to knuckle down and have us grafting. His best days are well behind him. He now sees his job as money for old rope and you can see his interest has waned when giving his post match bullshit.

We are in a very precarious position where Moyes is concerned.

As for this thread, I'd love to see Dibling playing under Eddie Howe. It won't happen but I'll keep my fingers crossed.

In the little I have seen of Dibling, he is like a little boy lost and feeling sorry for himself.

Contrast that with Tyrique George and the difference in attitude is plain to see.

Sell ASAP and recoup as much as we can.

I think it might help his case if, when he got on the pitch, he did something, anything, to indicate that he had something positive to offer.

Many of the early season matches, I was desperate for him to get on the pitch and just show us a glimpse of what he can do. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, when given the chance, so far he has showed us nothing.

I was not expecting a hat full of goals or even assists, but he is meant to be an expert at dribbling and holding on to the ball. He has not yet managed that.

Maybe we should just start him anyway, let's face it, fans on here are incredibly tolerant and won't mind us failing to win as long as we're giving experience to the youngsters.

He has not shown enough intensity in training and neither on the pitch whenever he has been given a chance.

Moyes also is not a type of manager that can get best out of him from what we have seen so far. Another glum summer window.

Interesting that Red Bull have shown interest in Barry and Dibling. Both have heavily divided opinion on these pages.

Barry initially struggled, made a stupid decision to put his Arsenal mates in the away end and cry about it. His overall play hasn't been great, but his goal record for someone new to the Premier League is decent.

Certainly if he was at Brighton, Brentford or Bournemouth, his stock would be high that he scored well in the minutes he played. I would be disappointed if we called time after just 1 year, as I think he can score regularly and improve.

I can see us selling Beto, and taking a punt on Delap on loan to buy. Moyes rates him, and he will play far better than what Chelsea have offered him.

I cant see Everton renewing Beto's contract, and I can see someone paying decent money to take him as he can score regularly. I quite like Beto, but you can't keep 3 target men, when it is clear we need a different type of third choice option.

Dibling needs to be more positive in his game. Get the shots off, get the crosses in, run and commit the man. From the open training session, he has a real good technique, so let's see if he can build through the friendlies -- perhsps putting him in the #10 role.

Moyes has never publicly said one word of what you claim he said. Never even hinted at it. Nor has any credible media outlet reported so.

From what I have seen of Dibling live, and the YouTube clips, his strength looks to be to receive the ball, turn quickly, and progress it 15-20 m up the pitch. A touch of dynamism, but with the risk of losing the ball.

There is a disconnect between that, and our manager's style of play.

Blame Moyes, blame Baines, blame being home sick, or be honest and say what you see.

Not particularly quick, not that skilful, not a shooter who has an eye for a goal, doesn't work hard or help the full back particularly well, attitude doesn't look fantastic.

Points to accepting we got it wrong with a quick sale and damage limitation. One of many who need to go.

I like this kid. I bet he’s never been asked to defend in his life, before now! I expect he’s one of those players who need to have a ‘free role’ as it were. Not really a Moyes type in that case! Still plenty of time, but he needs serious minutes - either for us or on loan.
