STJD clears Corinthians over pitch invasion, fines both clubs for restart delay | OneFootball

According to Meu Timao, the STJD has acquitted Corinthians of responsibility for a post-match pitch invasion by two children at Neo Química Arena after the 3-0 win over Remo on 23 July, but fined both clubs R$ 2,000 for a two-minute delay to the second-half restart.

The hearing took place on Tuesday morning at the STJD headquarters in Rio de Janeiro. Prosecutor Eduardo Ramos said both teams were initially cited under article 206 of the CBJD for a five-minute delay, but the referee Lucas Casagrande’s report confirmed it was only two minutes.

On that basis, he sought a fine of R$ 1,000 per minute for each club, totalling R$ 2,000 for Corinthians and the same for Remo. The panel accepted the request.

Corinthians also faced a charge under article 213 for failing to prevent disorder or invasions. The match report noted two children entered the pitch to ask for shirts and were quickly restrained by on-field security, an offence that could attract a fine between R$ 100 and R$ 100,000.

In defence, lawyer Sergio Engenberg said the Military Police submitted a report on Tuesday identifying the parents and guardians, arguing the club took all possible measures. Ramos acknowledged article 213 concerns a lack of measures by the home club, but said security responded swiftly and no risk reached players or officials.

He added that preventive actions are not infallible and the children’s age should be weighed. He concluded there was no organisational failure by Corinthians and recommended dismissal, a view the auditors backed unanimously.
