Strasbourg confirm Gary O’Neil stay | OneFootball

Whilst RC Strasbourg Alsace failed to qualify for any form of European football for next season, Gary O’Neil will remain in his post, as confirmed by club president Marc Keller, in an interview with DNA Sports.

O’Neil took over from Liam Rosenior, who departed for Chelsea back in January. Towards the end of the season, with Le Racing faltering in the league, the former Bournemouth and Wolverhampton Wanderers manager put all of the club’s focus on winning one of the cup competitions. However, his side crashed out of the Coupe de France and the UEFA Conference League at the semi-final stages. Their eighth-place league standing means that they miss out on all forms of European football for next season.

It was reported earlier this month that Strasbourg may have been in the market for a replacement for O’Neil, with Mohamed Toubache-Ter revealing the Ligue 1 side’s interest in Luis Felipe. However, any doubts about O’Neil’s future have now been quashed. 

“We are very happy with his (O’Neil’s) work and he is very happy with Le Racing. Gary is involved, motivated, and has begun work on the squad for next season. His objective consists of increasing the rhythm and our levels of expectations because teams in the top eight (of Ligue 1) are moving quickly,” said Keller.
