Sunderland’s European push sits alongside early summer planning, with Football Insider reporting they are among three clubs ‘keeping tabs’ on Queens Park Rangers striker Rumarn Burrell.
Sunderland are focused on the final weeks of their Premier League campaign as Regis Le Bris and his players chase only a second European trip. A home win over Nottingham Forest would lift them into the top eight for at least 24 hours.
Burrell, 25, joined QPR from League One side Burton Albion last summer, and has 10 goals and three assists in 30 appearances in all competitions in his first season at Loftus Road.
He stepped into international football over the last 18 months, scoring on his Jamaica debut in a 3-2 friendly win against Trinidad and Tobago last May. He has since won four more caps, without adding to his tally.
The report adds that Bournemouth are also monitoring him, while Wolverhampton Wanderers are admirers and view the forward as part of their attempt to rebuild and strengthen after relegation was confirmed last week. Wolves are said to see him as a recognised Championship goalscorer who could help an instant return.
