Sunderland host Nottingham Forest at the Stadium of Light on Friday night, with injuries and returns shaping both squads. According to Sunderland Echo, updates followed Thursday afternoon press conferences.
Omar Alderete has recovered from the illness that led to his second-half withdrawal last weekend. He is available and could resume his partnership with Dan Ballard, and is in contention to start.

Callum Hudson-Odoi has been ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on a quad injury.
Dan Ndoye, who missed the Burnley game last weekend, should be available, a timely boost in Hudson-Odoi’s absence.
Murillo suffered an injury last weekend and, although Forest had hoped he would make this fixture, he is now considered unlikely to feature.
