Sunderland have dismissed reports of opening talks over a £40million move for AS Monaco striker Folarin Balogun.

According to Sunderland Echo, club sources insist no discussions have taken place and that suggestions of talks starting on Monday are incorrect.

Sunderland’s stance is that there are no active talks for Balogun. The recruitment team, led by head coach Régis Le Bris, continues to assess targets ahead of the new campaign.
