Femi Azeez is attracting a lot of summer transfer interest
Femi Azeez has been a key part of Millwall’s push for an automatic promotion place this season.
Alex Neil’s side earned another crucial three points on Tuesday night with a 1-0 victory at home to Derby County.
A 43rd minute strike from Josh Coburn sealed the win for the London outfit, who are now just one point behind second place Middlesbrough, albeit having played one game more.
The Lions are now also 14 points clear of the Rams, who occupy seventh place, giving them a lot of breathing room in the race for a top six finish.
Millwall haven’t earned a play-off place in the second tier of English football since their fourth place finish in 2002.
But a contribution of eight goals and six assists from Azeez has helped put the club in a very strong position to compete for Premier League promotion this year.

Azeez is attracting a lot of transfer interest ahead of the summer window off the back of his strong Championship performances.
According to Teamtalk, a host of Premier League sides have scouted the 24-year-old ahead of the market reopening at the end of the campaign.
It’s understood that Crystal Palace in particular have taken a close look at the forward as they consider their options to bolster their first team squad.
The likes of Brighton, Brentford, Everton, Sunderland, Fulham and Leeds United have also been cited with an interest in the Millwall star.
The Lions rejected an offer from promotion rivals Ipswich Town for Azeez in the final hours of the January transfer window.
It’s understood that it was a record sale price for the club, but they opted to keep the forward amid their push for a top two place in the Championship.
The 24-year-old has a contract with Millwall until June 2028, giving the second division side a lot of leverage in any upcoming transfer talks.
Among the many clubs eyeing his signature, it’s believed that the Eagles are currently showing the most firm interest at this stage.
Millwall have won their last four league fixtures, putting them in a strong position to contend for a place in the Premier League next season.
Next up for Neil’s side is a home clash against relegation-threatened Blackburn Rovers on 14 March in a 3pm kick-off.

If Millwall can win promotion to the Premier League this season, then it’s hard to imagine him departing the club.
However, if the Lions are unable to secure a top flight place, then the number of suitors chasing his signature indicates that an exit is likely.
The Championship side will be able to command a big fee for him at the very least, as he has a contract for another two years and there are a wide range of Premier League sides targeting him.
The club turned down a record sale in January, and that could prove very smart business this summer no matter what happens in their promotion battle.
