Sunderland held Manchester United to a 0-0 at the Stadium of Light, the hosts on top for long spells.

According to Sunderland Echo, Regis Le Bris’s side controlled much of the play and were repeatedly denied by goalkeeper Senne Lammens.

United applied late pressure but created little, while Sunderland stayed assured in and out of possession.

In the ratings, Robin Roefs was given six after a largely quiet afternoon that included a late save.

Lutsharel Geertruida justified his recall with eight, regularly joining attacks and striking the post with his weaker left foot.

Nordi Mukiele also received eight for a composed display at centre back, stepping in with important clearances when required.

Omar Alderete earned seven, defending strongly despite some errant passing and winning his duel with Zirkzee.
