Sunderland offered a playful reply to Manchester City on social media after a club post charting Erling Haaland’s Premier League goals left the Stadium of Light unchecked.
According to Sunderland Echo, City shared a graphic showing Haaland has scored at 23 of the 24 Premier League venues he has visited, with the Stadium of Light listed at the bottom without a tick.
The Wearside club responded with a smiling emoji, a light-hearted nod to the fact the Norway striker has not scored there since Sunderland returned to the top flight.
Sunderland will not host City again in the league this season, having already faced Pep Guardiola’s side on New Year’s Day. Régis Le Bris’ team held the champions to a 0-0 draw.
That result means the Stadium of Light remains one of the few Premier League grounds where Haaland has yet to find the net. With the Black Cats unbeaten at home this season, supporters will hope that record stays intact.
