Sunderland’s bruising week on the pitch is being offset by movement off it, with fresh updates on Anthony Patterson and Victor Munoz as the summer window nears. The Black Cats lost to Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest, conceding nine in six days.

ChronicleLive reports that Millwall are exploring keeping Patterson for 2026/27, potentially depending on promotion, while AS says Sunderland have renewed interest in Osasuna’s Victor Munoz, with bids expected from Sunderland and other Premier League clubs. Osasuna are said to be standing firm on a €40m (£34.7m) release clause.

The arrival of Robin Roefs had seemed tough on Patterson after his role in promotion, though the Dutchman has justified his place. Patterson left for Millwall in January for minutes and has five clean sheets in 13 Championship outings, keeping the Lions in the promotion hunt. The report adds that Championship winners Coventry City, Hull City and West Brom are monitoring his situation amid uncertainty over Brighton loanee Carl Rushworth.

On Munoz, Osasuna are not inclined to negotiate below the clause, and Real Madrid hold a three-year buyback that could yet shape the winger’s future.

Osasuna sporting director Braulio Vázquez recently said the club accepted Madrid’s terms, that early criticism of signing a little-used youngster has flipped, and that they are simply enjoying Munoz through season’s end. Munoz has six goals and five assists in 34 appearances, with Osasuna 10th in La Liga.
