Sunderland are preparing for another significant window as Regis Le Bris seeks to refine his squad for a maiden Europa League campaign, with their rising squad valuation underlining last season’s progress.

Transfermarkt reports that Sunderland’s squad is valued at €386.43m, ranking 15th among Premier League clubs. Manchester City lead the list, ahead of Arsenal and Chelsea, with Liverpool and Manchester United next.

A seventh-place finish secured European football for only the second time in the club’s history, and the first since Bob Stokoe’s 1973 FA Cup winners earned a Cup Winners’ Cup berth the following season.

The groundwork was laid last summer during an ambitious rebuild. Club-record deals brought in midfielders Enzo Le Fee and Habib Diarra, Getafe defender Omar Alderete signed, and Dutch duo Robin Roefs and Brian Brobbey arrived.

Perhaps the boldest move saw former Arsenal captain Granit Xhaka return to the Premier League after a remarkable spell with Bayer Leverkusen.

This summer is not expected to be as hectic as last year, although further strengthening is considered necessary if Sunderland are to build on a memorable campaign.
